Important
Microsoft is retiring the Azure Expert Managed Services Provider (Azure Expert MSP) program. Effective September 15, 2026, Microsoft stops accepting new Azure Expert MSP enrollments. Renewals end in January 2027.
Overview
- Microsoft stops accepting new Azure Expert MSP applications on September 15, 2026.
- Partners keep eligibility for various engagement types through Azure Expert MSP enrollment within Frontier Accelerate for Azure for FY27, ending June 30, 2027.
- Partners currently enrolled in Azure Expert MSP continue to receive associated benefits through their Azure Expert MSP anniversary date.
- If your renewal comes up before January, continue to renew if you want to maintain enrollment in Azure Expert MSP.
Transition pathway
- As Microsoft retires Azure Expert MSP, the recommended path forward for eligible partners is the recently announced Frontier Partner specialization.
- Review the FY27 Incentives guide to understand the engagements qualified for through Azure Expert MSP enrollment and the corresponding Azure specializations that offer similar access.
- Microsoft made capabilities such as the direct MCA-E/EA to CSP for Azure transfer tool more broadly available, giving partners access through enrollment in Cloud & AI Platforms-related Solutions Partner designations plus Direct Bill CSP authorization.
- Microsoft will share additional Partner Program updates for Managed Services Partners in FY27.
How to enroll in Azure Expert MSP
- Microsoft stops accepting new Azure Expert MSP applications on September 15, 2026.
- Benefits remain for 12 months post enrollment.
Renewals
If your renewal date comes before January, keep renewing if you want to stay enrolled in the Azure Expert MSP program. Renewals close in January 2027.
The renewal process is triggered based on the anniversary date of your current Azure Expert MSP.
The renewal window opens 45 days before your anniversary date and closes on your anniversary date (with a 30-calendar day grace period). Partners must meet the published requirements within the 75-day period to renew their specialization.
During the renewal window, partners must meet the qualification requirements, submit the application, and schedule and complete an audit for a successful renewal.
