How do I remove the Copilot icon from slide view in PowerPoint?

Yesterday or the day before, a new icon for Copilot appeared in PowerPoint. It is directly over the slide in Normal view, between the ruler and the top of the slide. The icon is positioned in such a way that the bottom of the slide is disappearing off the screen and creating a scrollbar, even when I set the view to "Fit to Window". I am doing content review and am having to repeatedly stop, scroll down to get info, slide number, etc., and it's slowing me down.

How can I turn this icon off or move it somewhere else?

This needs to be fixed. The Icon needs to be removable. It makes you have to scroll down to see the bottom of the slide, so annoying. I will remove Copilot if this isn't fixed.

This is ridiculous, now I have the slide all the way to the bottom of the screen so the co-pilot icon is on top, taking way more space than needed

I really wonder who had the bright idea of adding an icon there. And I use co-pilot, but the icon placement is beyond ridiculous.

Anybody who uses powerpoint would know its just really annoying placement. We have to do all these tricks to get the most real estate and we have this icon sitting there.

Yes, agree. This is really annoying. I take the workaround to reduce zoom of the slides (for me 75% works) to get at least rid of the scrollbar. But honestly, I'm loosing appr. 10-15% of possible screen space only for this icon. And I have the copilot-icon anyhow at the ribbon bar as well. Please fix it.

I got so annoyed at this that I decided to remove copilot. It’s effectively useless anyway and not worth the extra money. Way to annoy your customers and lose money, Microsoft. Sheesh.

Yes, please make this feature removable, it is extremely frustrating. Needs to be addressed promptly. I plan to remove copilot in the meantime. I see no point to having this, when in the tool bar it is already there

Dear Microsoft Team - please move the COPILOT ICON placement in POWERPOINT. If it has to be there, please put on the right hand side of the slide, not at the top. Please understand that the whole slide needs to be visibly centralized on the screen for heavy users of PPT. Thank You.

Very frustrating to have the Powerpoint screen realestate taken up by something completely unnecessary. The button causes the slide to slip down the view and on each slide you then have to scroll down a little to see the whole thing, incomprehensible how this was introduced in the first place, let alone still a thing. This needs to be fixed.

Removing Copilot from the ribbon DOES NOT keep the icon from appearing on and above slides in Normal slide view. It is VERY aggravating. As already stated by many, it causes unnecessary additional scrolling to see the bottom of slides UNLESS I REDUCE THE ZOOM LEVEL to the point that it is uncomfortable to view the slide for working on it. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. If Microsoft want to promote use of this feature, fine, but DON'T FORCE IT!!!!! I have tried every solution I have found in several searches on the Internet and NONE WORK ... including the ones given by the "wonderful" new AI. I thought the comment on this thread to open a new window was working until I discovered I cannot advance through slides in Normal View in the new window by using the down arrow at the bottom of the scroll bar. I have to use the preview pane on the left. AND if I click Slide View to check how the slide looks in Presentation View and then click back to Normal View, the Copilot icon reappears. In other words, any work I try to do on the presentation in Normal View now takes additional time and aggravation. THIS SHOULD NOT BE, MICROSOFT 365!!!!! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

Adding Copilot (AI) to make it mandatory, because annoying icons appear everywhere and without the possibility of removing them easily, seems to me to have been the work of some paranoid, unbecoming of a serious company like Microsoft. I have asked to return to my previous state, we will see if they listen to me, and if later I want the "famous AI", I want it to be easy to remove, at the moment it is a nuisance.

I cannot even auto-fit to placeholder any more. Please remove autopilot from formatting at this time. The "improvements" ended up limiting formatting. What used to take me minutes has now begun to take me hours as I'm trying to learn how the functions work that I used to use regularly. Stop improving without asking your customer's if they'd like to see it improved.

This is not really a solution, but if you open a second window (View>New Window) that seems to disable your ability to use Copilot and removes the button. Minimize the second window, and go about your life.

Based on my tests, we are unable to remove the icon. I suggest you submit the request on Microsoft Feedback Community.

Besides, you may vote up this thread: How do I get rid of the incredibly annoying "Draft with Copilot" icon in the left margin of Word?, uses replied in it has the same need as you, they want to remove the copilot icon in Word.

Just in case anyone arrives here looking for the solution - you can now right-click on the icon and 'Move to Ribbon' which gets it out of the way of the canvas.

If your account has a license for Copilot then a button should be on the Home tab. You should be able to click it. I don't have Copilot so I cannot confirm but I assume this should enable/disable the option, or give you access to settings to do this.

I have an Office 365 subscription. A few days ago, I did have a Copilot button on the ribbon. It has been missing since the update the other day, and replaced by the one on the slide workspace.

I have gone through every command available under Customize Ribbon as well as under Quick Access Toolbar (just in case). I have also gone through the Options panels and not found any reference to Copilot.

This isn't the issue. There is already a button on the ribbon. This is an annoying icon that floats above your slide and creates wasted space between the ribbon and the slide, which pushes the slide down on the screen. It also means you cannot just use the down arrow key to move between slides since it does something that requires at least two key presses to move to the next slide. It's useless and annoying.

To add 'Copilot' button on the ribbon, try this : go to File --> Options --> Customize Ribbon --> Choose commands from 'Mains Tab' --> Home --> Assistance --> Chat with Copilot --> Add >> --> OK.

There seems to be no option to get rid of the annoying icon in 'Normal' slide editing view (hopefully it will be addressed via a patch ! )

I tried clicking on the icon and there is no option. When I asked it to "remove copilot" it answered "I am sorry I cannot do that."
