Why is the Schedule Message option not available in Teams for chat messages? Docs say yes, but I don't see it

I wanted to schedule a chat and looked for a solution. I found this documentation:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/schedule-chat-messages-in-microsoft-teams-2fc5ea77-7bb4-4511-8f59-e62bac1c0f6a

Which makes it sound very easy. Just right click Actions and Apps and then Schedule Message.

But when I do this there is no Schedule Message option.

I also found that someone had the same problem in July 2025, but the answer is simply the same as the docs above, which do not work.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/4423153/in-the-new-teams-app-the-option-to-schedule-the-se

Just to head off some of the standard questions that are in that. This is not a work system, so there is not admin other than me, and I certainly haven't restricted access to this. I really doubt it is temporary if this was happening to others months ago. It is also the latest version.

    Dear Travis Stewart,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you are unable to schedule message delivery in a Teams chat. The Schedule Message feature in Microsoft Teams is a relatively new capability that is still being gradually rolled out. It is currently available only for Microsoft 365 work or school accounts. This feature is not supported for personal accounts, including Microsoft Teams Free and Microsoft 365 Personal. Since you are using Microsoft Teams Free (as indicated by the post tags), this explains why you do not see the Schedule Message option in your Teams chat. At this time, there is no setting that can enable this feature in the free version of Teams.

I hope this clarifies the situation. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. One thing I learned while running across this request. If it's a "new" conversation (with someone or multiple people) who you haven't conversed with before, then you can't send a scheduled message until AFTER you send the first message.
