Hi everyone,

I am trying to add a planner to a private teams channel using the web version of the planner, When I try to add a new page and copy and paste the link over I get the Loop component showing and it will not let me paste the link.

    Hi Debbie,

What you are experiencing is expected behavior in Microsoft Teams: currently, Planner (Tasks by Planner and To Do) cannot be added directly to private channels. When you attempt to paste the Planner link, Teams interprets it as a Loop component rather than embedding the Planner plan, which is why you see the behavior you described.

The supported workaround is to create the Planner plan in a standard channel of the team, where the app integration is fully supported. Once created, members of the private channel can still access the plan through the Planner web app or by pinning the plan link as a tab in the private channel, but it will not embed natively as a Planner tab.

Another option is to use Microsoft Lists or Loop components in private channels, which are supported and can provide similar task management functionality if embedding Planner is critical. For organizations that require Planner in private channels, the recommended approach is to restructure tasks into standard channels or manage them centrally in Planner and share access links.

I hope this clarifies and gives you practical alternatives. If the guidance shared so far helps improve or clarify the situation, please click “Accept Answer” to mark it as resolved so others can benefit as well 😊.

    Jason.
