Managing media playback issues and settings in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I have tried different browsers, both Chrome and Edge. I am using Windows 11 Pro version 25h2. I believe this happened after my latest update of 2026-05 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5087054). I have tried just about everything, but no sound from online media, but does work with media on my laptop. I also believe I have all the latest drivers and updates installed.

Hi,
Does it work if you connect headphones through Bluetooth or wired? If not, play an audio on your browser then open Windows Settings > System > Sound > Volume Mixer. See if the browser would appear under Apps and will show you volume.
Hi Yau Lau,
Does the problem go away after uninstalling the update you have mentioned?
Please try uninstalling it following this article: How to uninstall a Windows Update.
If you have any updated information, please feel free to let me know.

If none of these steps restore browser audio, use the system restore option mentioned in the audio article to restore from a point before the May update and verify whether online audio resumes working.
