Microsoft Edge is opening random tabs for no apparent reason. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing, and changing settings nothing seems to work. These tabs seem to be advertisements oriented.

Random ad-oriented tabs opening in Microsoft Edge are typically caused by malicious or unwanted scripts, extensions, or sites that have been visited. Use the following steps to clean up the browser and system:

1. Scan the device for malware
   Run a full malware scan to remove any adware or malicious software that may be triggering the tabs.
   For Windows 10/11, follow the "Run a scan manually" guidance in Stay protected with Windows Security. For other OS versions, use the corresponding malware protection guidance linked in the article.
2. Verify third-party security software is up to date
   If third-party security software (for example, Norton or McAfee) is installed, open that app and check for updates, or visit the vendor’s website to ensure the latest definitions and updates are installed. Out-of-date security software may miss adware or browser hijackers.
3. Clear browsing history and cached data
   Clearing cached data and history can remove scripts and cached content that may be causing redirects or pop-ups:
   • In Edge, select Settings and more > History > Open history page.
   • Select Delete browsing data.
   • Set Time range to All time.
   • Select Browsing history and Cached images and files.
   • Select Clear now.
4. Clear all browsing data
