How do I cancel my renewal subscription for Microsoft 365 and obtain a refund?

I would like to cancel my renewal subscription for Microsoft 365 and am having a difficult time trying to use the online information to do so. I haven't used it in quite sometime since my computer hasn't worked for ages. Am hoping Microsoft will ancel and honor a refund. How do I do this?

Log into any Microsoft account you may have on this link.

Do you find your Microsoft 365 subscription listed on your account?

If so, click the Cancel subscription on the Microsoft 365 subscription, then confirm the cancellation.
You should also remove the recurring billing on the subscription to ensure no more payments are taken from your account.

On this link, you can check your eligibility for a refund after cancelling the subscription.

I have been billed by Microsoft through Paypal a second time, when I already pay a subscription with my Radmail account. This subscription covers three devices, and I only have two. I am applying for a refund of $179.00. Please advise. Liz

You should be able to cancel any subscription that you do not need through the associated account at https://account.microsoft.com/services . If your subscription is paid via a third-party (such as Google Play or the Apple App Store), cancel from there. Good luck.

To cancel the Microsoft 365 renewal and check if a refund is possible, follow these steps:

Go to the Services & subscriptions page for Microsoft 365:
- https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
Find the Microsoft 365 subscription:
- If you see Manage, select it.
- If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew. In that case, no further action is needed and you will not be charged again.
Cancel the subscription:
- On the subscription page, select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel.
- Review the information shown (including any notes about what happens to your storage and access).
- Choose I don't want my subscription to confirm cancellation.
Check refund eligibility:
- For consumer Microsoft 365 (Basic, Personal, Family, Premium) bought directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is determined after cancellation. Use the guided flow starting from the “Check eligibility” or refund/self-help links in the cancellation article:

- Not all cancellations result in a refund.
If the subscription was not purchased directly from Microsoft:
- If it was purchased through Google Play or Apple’s App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested from them:
  - Google Play: see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
  - Apple App Store: request a refund from Apple support.
- If it was purchased from another retailer (for example Amazon, Best Buy, Harvey Norman), contact that retailer to manage cancellation and any refund.
If cancellation still does not work:
- Confirm that the correct Microsoft account is being used (the one that originally purchased Microsoft 365).
- Make sure there are no overdue payments on the subscription; overdue balances can block cancellation until paid.
- If the cancel/recurring billing options still do not appear, use the guided support from the “Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription” article.

After cancellation, access to Microsoft 365 continues until the end of the current paid period. For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium, OneDrive storage will eventually drop back to the free 5 GB (and Outlook.com storage limits apply), so important files and emails should be backed up before the subscription fully ends.
