BIOS LOCK HELP NEEDED TO UNLOCK

On a Surface device, a BIOS/UEFI password set by a previous owner cannot be removed or reset by Microsoft or by software tools.

For a second‑hand Surface Go 2 with a locked UEFI:

1. Contact the seller
   • Only the person or organization that set the UEFI password can remove it.
   • Ask the seller to provide the password or to remove it for you.
2. Understand Microsoft’s limitations
   • Microsoft cannot reset or bypass UEFI/BIOS passwords on Surface devices.
   • For older or no‑longer‑supported models, Microsoft will not offer an exchange for this condition.
3. Service options (if the device is still supported and you can prove ownership)
   • Check warranty and create a service order, or find in‑person support, from the official Surface support pages:

   • If service is available, it typically involves a paid device exchange rather than unlocking the existing UEFI.
