Windows Home License Usage for Businesses

Hello Microsoft Support,

I would like to ask whether our company’s plan to purchase Windows 10/11 Home licenses for use on company computers would violate Microsoft’s licensing terms.

Is a business legally allowed to use Windows 10/11 Home editions for commercial/company use?

Thank you.

    Hi,

I’m Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

There would be no issue as long as the Home edition is activated with an official license. However, Windows Home is mainly designed for personal use and does not include many business management and security features.

For company computers, Windows Pro is usually the recommended edition because it includes business features such as BitLocker, Remote Desktop hosting, and the ability to join a domain or Microsoft Entra ID.

Also, please note that Windows 10 has reached end of support, so using Windows 10 in a company environment is not recommended unless you have proper Extended Security Updates.

Please feel free to ask if you need further assistance.
