Managing and scheduling events and meetings using the calendar in Microsoft Teams Free
Hi Amy,
This issue can happen for a few reasons:
- The meeting may have been created via a channel or by a service account/automation (e.g., Graph API), which can limit deletion capabilities.
- The meeting organizer may have changed, or your account might no longer be recognized as the organizer due to back-end sync issues.
- There could be a synchronization problem between Outlook and Teams calendars.
Please follow the steps below:
- Try deleting (or canceling) the meeting directly from Outlook (desktop app or Outlook on the web), as Teams meetings are tied to your Outlook calendar.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/cancel-a-meeting-9e1eac0d-0462-4a01-ad0b-7d0543819562 - Ensure you're signed in with the correct account and that you are still listed as the meeting organizer.
- Clear your Teams cache or try from an InPrivate/incognito browser session.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/microsoftteams/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache - If the meetings were created via automation or a shared mailbox, check whether deletion permissions differ.
If the issue persists, it may need to be investigated further at the backend (e.g., meeting ownership, mailbox type, or policy restrictions) by your organization's IT department or Microsoft support.

Burak V.
