Both my personal and business outlook accounts are in one app. I would like to have them separate, can you help me with this?

Dear @Mohritz, Pat (CIB Risk, USA),

Good day, and thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum. Correct me if I'm wrong, I understand that you would like to separate your business email and personal email in Outlook on your iPhone, possibly by having them work like two separate Outlook apps. In the Outlook mobile app, both personal and business accounts are managed within the same Outlook app. If both accounts are added, they will appear together in Outlook, and you can switch between them from within the app. If you prefer to keep them more separate, the available workaround would be to use Outlook on the web or use another mail app for one of the accounts.

You may try the following setup:

1: Set up your business email in the Outlook app

    1. Open the Outlook app.
    2. If both accounts are already added, tap your profile picture (top left) > tap the gear icon (Settings).
    3. Under Accounts, tap your personal account > Remove Account.
    4. Keep only your business account in the Outlook app.

Removing an account from the Outlook app only removes it from the app. It does not delete the email account itself.

2: Set up your personal email in the Apple Mail app

    1. Open the built-in Mail app on your iPhone.
    2. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
    3. Select Outlook.com (or Exchange if it is a Microsoft 365 account).
    4. Enter your personal email address and sign in.
    5. Choose what to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and tap Save.

Additionally, I also strongly recommend that you share your detailed experience and feedback directly with the Microsoft product team through their official channels. This is the most effective way to make your voice heard and influence future feature improvements and adjustments.

You can visit the Outlook · Community to submit a new idea or vote on existing one. The product team is in charge of this site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback. The higher the number of votes, the more attention the team will pay to it. Many features are developed and improved based on customer feedback. As a moderator, I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for further consideration. While we don't directly influence product design, user feedback is actively reviewed and helps prioritize future development. If you’re unable to submit feedback yourself, please feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll be happy to submit it on your behalf.

I hope this information helps clarify the situation and provides a practical workaround. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always happy to help. Have a wonderful day!

On iPhone, Outlook for iOS is designed to keep multiple accounts in one app, but they can be viewed either together or separately.

To keep business and personal email separate while still using one Outlook app:

    1. Open Outlook on the iPhone.
    2. Tap the Account icon (three white lines or the house icon) in the upper left.
    3. Instead of using All accounts (the gray house icon), tap directly on the specific account icon (business or personal) to switch to that account’s inbox only.
    4. Repeat as needed to switch between accounts; each view will show only that account’s mail.

If a fully separate app experience is required (for example, one app only for work and another only for personal), use Outlook for one set of accounts and the built-in iOS Mail app for the other, adding only the desired account to each app.
