    Thank you for letting me know.

    Excel 2021 cannot parse data lists linked to external files dynamically when closed. Open Section Data.xlsx in the background. Switch back to this workbook.Check if the arrow functions.

    Also, the current path ends in !sg.t which appears cut off or misspelled. Open Section Data.xlsx. Press Ctrl + F3 to open the Name Manager. Check if the name sg.t exists exactly as written.

    Yes, it is possible, but it depends on how you are setting up the Data Validation list.

    Are you trying to use a list from another workbook that is currently open? Another workbook that is closed? Or a file stored on a network drive or SharePoint?

    Could you also let us know which version of Excel you are using and share a screenshot of your current Data Validation setup?

    In many cases, Excel does not directly support Data Validation lists that reference a closed external workbook, so the setup method matters.
