    Hi Arshad Faheem,

Thank you for sharing the details. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially since sign‑in works elsewhere but not through the top‑right profile button in Edge.

Based on similar cases, the error Tag: 7q6ca / Code: 1067 is commonly related to an issue with the Edge profile or its sync/sign‑in component rather than the Microsoft account itself.

Since you’re able to sign in on websites or in a new tab, this points more toward a profile-level issue in Edge.

In this case, I’d suggest trying the following:

First, check if the issue is tied to your current profile. Click the three dots in the top-right corner, go to Settings > Profiles > Add profile, then create a new Edge profile and try signing in there. If it works normally, it indicates the original profile may be corrupted.

If the issue persists even in the same profile:

    • Sign out of your profile completely (Edge Settings > Profiles > Sign out), then sign in again
    • Go to Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to default
    • Then restart Edge and try again

If it still doesn’t help, repairing or reinstalling Edge can help ensure all sign‑in components are properly registered.

Please keep me posted on how it goes. If possible, also let me know whether the issue occurs in a new profile or only the current one, that will help narrow it down further.

Follow these steps in order, testing Edge sign-in (top-right profile button and sync) after each step.

    1. Clear Edge cookies and cached credentials
    • In Edge, go to edge://settings/privacy.
    • Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
    • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
    • Set Time range to All time and select Clear now.
    • Close and reopen Edge.
    • Go to edge://settings/profiles and try the top-right sign-in again.
    1. Verify account works outside Edge
    • Sign in to the same Microsoft account in a normal web tab (for example, Outlook or account portal) and confirm it works.
    • If web sign-in fails anywhere, reset the password or contact the administrator as appropriate, then retry Edge sign-in.
    1. Check that browser sign-in is allowed by policy
    • In Edge, go to edge://policy.
    • Find the BrowserSignin policy.
      • 0 = browser sign-in disabled.
      • 1 = browser sign-in enabled (default).
      • 2 = sign-in required.
    • If BrowserSignin is 0, contact the organization’s IT admin to change it. After any change, restart Edge and test sign-in again.
    1. Remove conflicting Edge profiles or stored credentials
    • In Edge, go to edge://settings/profiles.
    • If multiple profiles exist, select the one that fails to sign in, choose Sign out, then sign in again.
    • If still failing, remove the problematic profile:
      • In edge://settings/profiles, select the profile and choose Remove.
      • Restart Edge and create a new profile, signing in with the Microsoft account.
      • Note: Removing a profile deletes local data (favorites, history, unsynced passwords). Ensure sync is working elsewhere before removal.
    • On Windows, clear stored credentials:
      • Open Control PanelCredential Manager.
      • Under Windows Credentials and Generic Credentials, remove entries related to MicrosoftAccount or login.microsoftonline.com.
      • Restart Edge and try the profile sign-in again.
    1. Update Edge
    • In Edge, go to edge://settings/help.
    • Allow Edge to check for and install updates.
    • Restart Edge and test sign-in from the top-right profile button.
    1. Check Windows account and OS integration (Windows 11)
    • Go to SettingsAccountsYour info and confirm the Windows account is connected.
    • For work/school accounts, go to SettingsAccountsAccess work or school and ensure the organization account is connected.
    • If using a work/school account and sign-in still fails:
      • In Access work or school, select the account → Disconnect.
      • Reboot if prompted, then go back to Access work or school, select Connect, and sign in again.
    • Reset the Token Broker service:
      • Open Command Prompt as administrator.
      • Run:
            net stop TokenBroker
            net start TokenBroker

      • Restart Edge and try sign-in again.
    1. Check network access to Microsoft sign-in endpoints
    • In Edge, confirm that these URLs open without errors:
      • https://login.live.com
    • If a proxy is used:
      • Go to edge://settings/system and review proxy settings.
      • Ensure the proxy does not block the above endpoints.
    • If behind a corporate firewall, ask the network admin to verify those endpoints are allowed.
    • If possible, test sign-in from a different network (for example, mobile hotspot) to rule out network-specific blocking.
    1. Ensure not using Guest or InPrivate
    • Sign-in to Edge is not supported in Guest or InPrivate windows.
    • Make sure sign-in is attempted in a normal (non-InPrivate, non-Guest) Edge window.

If the issue persists after all steps, collect diagnostics before contacting support:

    • Edge version from edge://settings/help.
    • Active policies from edge://policy (export list).
    • Network trace from edge://net-export/ while reproducing the error.
    • Identity details from edge://identity-internals/.
    • Windows version from SettingsSystemAbout. Include the correlation ID, timestamp, and error code already captured when opening a support case.
