Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by to read about my issue, hopefully there is an answer out there...

Last year, I developed a solution to create shortcuts to SharePoint folders within OneDrive in a specific named folder(subfolder to the root) so it would always be on top in Windows Explorer for everyone and it has been working flawlessly until last month. Recently, I started getting an "Invalid Request" error in the Graph call and spent today troubleshooting, what I found was I cannot for what ever reason, create a shortcut in a subfolder in any user's OneDrive anymore, instead, if I create it in the root of the user's OneDrive, it doesn't have an issue. I know I have the right ID of the subfolder that was created since I can create a folder or text document within the subfolder through an Graph call. I am also stumped on trying to find the shortcut as it is not returned in the call when I look for it within the root, only files and folders are returned.

I have a couple of questions, one, what has changed recently at MS that would create this issue then secondly, how to move the shortcut into a subfolder when it's not being shown to exist or if this is even allowed anymore? I read a couple of threads out there about users not being able to move shortcuts, not sure if this is the direction MS is heading or not.

Thanks for your time!

    Hi @Jack,

Based on your sharing, there is a possibility that your issue may relate to the new Microsoft 365 road map item for a dedicated Shortcuts folder option. Refer to MC1385585 - OneDrive: New Shortcuts folder option when adding shortcuts | Microsoft 365 Message Center, Microsoft will roll out a new Shortcuts folder option where users can save new shortcut to a dedicated folder instead of OneDrive root. Moreover, backend-service changes can affect shorts, including some appearing as .url internet shortcuts temporarily. However, this is a personal assumption, and I cannot find no Microsoft help article or official documentation that clearly state or confirm this behavior. That said, I'm really sorry that I can't help gathering more insights related to this issue.
