How to address calender invites sent thru teams via outlook browser and not app

My Apple macbook 2017 version doest support downloading MS teams ( for individual ) app on laptop. Hence i open teams on outlook itself. I have been having issues where my teams invite sent through calender does not reach recipients.is it because my outlook email id was created whereas my login for MS office is via my gmail id and there could be possible conflict? How do i resolve this? Thanks sangitha

Hello,

When your Microsoft account uses a non-Microsoft email address, it does not have its own email functionality. The actual sending and receiving of emails still happens through your third party email provider. As a result, when you send a meeting invitation through Teams, Microsoft cannot access your external email to send it. Instead, it sends the invitation using a randomly assigned Microsoft email address, one that ends in outlook.com. This can increase the likelihood of emails being marked as spam by receiving servers

To give your Microsoft account proper email functionality, you can create a Microsoft-based email alias and set it as the primary alias. Here is how:

Go to https://account.live.com and sign in to your personal account.

Click on "Your Info," then choose "Sign-in preferences," and select "Add an alias."

Choose to create a new alias. It will allow you to create one that's outlook.com.

After creating it, set it as your primary alias.

Keep your current third party email as a secondary alias. Do not remove it.

i dont know coz when i get a code to save the new primary sign in email which is now my outlook id., it says dont change the id from one which is linked to your account. dont you think then your advise is contradictory? can i then just schedule invites from teams app on y iphone?

You should be able to change the primary to outlook.com.

You can send invites from your Teams app on phone, but it will be still sent via a random outlook address if you don't have an outlook.com primary alias. The problem is not about where you send it, but the alias.

i just sent test mail invite with teams link but i dont see it in my sent mail and nor have i received it in my gmail id which i copied. but it shows in my calender. what is the issue? is there a lag time?

Hmm.. I just tested on mine and I didn't run into the same issue.

When you said it wasn't in your sent box, you are checking your sent box in https://www.outlook.com, right?

Since you created the new outlook.com alias, did you sign out of Teams and sign back in using the new alias? If not, launch web browser in incognito mode, go to https://teams.microsoft.com/v2 and sign in with the outlook alias, and try again.

Did you try signing out of Teams and signing back in? And did you try the web Teams in incognito mode?

emily my outlook id now shows as primary. however when signing in, it says it will send code to email id linked to account which is my gmail id- i then opted to change password- got an email from MS in my outlook inbox saying password changed. But nowhere in my sent mails i see the calendar invite that i sent as test for today. i only see it in my calendar. the mail still hasnt come to my gmail id which i kept on cc to see if i get the invite.

Changing your alias doesn't mean the security contact info is changed too. So it is normal that the security code is still sent to Gmail, because you only changed alias, not security info. And you do want the code to be sent to gmail, as it won't make sense to send the code to the email address you have trouble signing into.

I understand the email wasn't in the sent box when you tried it earlier today. But did you try again just now, after signing out of Teams first, and signing back in. And also try again using the web https://teams.microsoft.com/v2.. Sorry for repeating this as I didn't get a very clear answer regarding how you tried.

What if you remove gmail as alias completely from https://account.live.com > Your info > Sign in preference?

If you're creating the meetings from your Outlook.com calendar in Outlook on the web, could you try the following quick test:

1, Create a new test meeting and invite only:

your Outlook.com address, and

your Gmail address.

2, After sending, open the meeting from your calendar and verify that both addresses still appear in the attendee list.

3, Check the Gmail account's "Spam", "All Mail", and "Promotions" folders for the invitation.

If the invitation is present in Sent Items but neither your Gmail account nor any recipients receive the invitation, please let me know:

Whether this happens with every new meeting or only certain meetings.

Whether the invitations are sent from your Outlook.com address or from another address shown in the meeting organizer field.

i followed your steps and i have not got the same in my gmail id or outlook id.also can you let me know how can i get option of getting creating metting link in invite itself liek it happens in corporate account. here i have to go to teams - create link.copy and then paste it

Since the meeting invitation appears in your "Sent Items" folder but neither your Gmail address nor other recipients receive it, the issue now appears to be related to the delivery of the calendar invitation rather than a conflict between your Gmail-based Microsoft account and your Outlook.com address.

Please try the following:

Sign in to Outlook on the web > go to Calendar tab and create a brand-new appointment.

Add only one attendee (your Gmail address) and send.

After sending, open the meeting again from your calendar and select "Tracking" (if available) or verify that your Gmail address is still listed as an attendee.

Also check whether your Outlook.com mailbox can send a normal email to the same Gmail address. If a normal email arrives but the meeting invitation does not, that helps isolate the issue to calendar invitations specifically.

Regarding your second question, with a personal Microsoft account and Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, you do not get the same Outlook-to-Teams meeting integration that is commonly used in many corporate Microsoft 365 environments. As a workaround, creating the meeting link in Teams and then pasting it into the invitation is expected behavior in many personal-account scenarios.

can someone from MS teams please call me as this is not helping and stretching for so many days for two simple asks- enable video on teams, send invite thru teams from MS personal outlook purchased. Do let me know or where can i escalate and share feedback as back and forth doesnt help. It would be greta to get real time support with MS team based in India

i did test invite...no tracking option..invite didn't come to my gmail id at all. Again same issue of not being able to turn on video for teams calls. it sorted for exactly two days after i followed the instructions, now back to sqaure 1

i did above the first time- went to someone in manila who didnt call...she had lag and hence response for a simple query took one hour and like i said, i need someone who can speak over phone/ access my laptop versus this back and forth on mails which has taken 2 weeks

Meeting invitations appear in Sent Items but are not received by any attendees.

The Teams video issue temporarily worked but has returned.
