can't get the github student pack azure credits

I have a problem with signing up to verify my student account with azure, I have a verified student account in github, I can't contact azure support as I get a token error as soon as I log in in azure account, I have two emails one from my school and the other is my personal one.

now the registration process give me "you are not elligible" and sometimes threre is an error contact support
my personal email is my primary email in github. and my school email which is a 365 business email can't be used to sign up with azure for some reason.

can anyone help me plaese with the setup process.

So that I can try and help you, please can you answer the following:

Have you ever signed up, or tried to, for the Azure Students subscription previously?

Does your college/university have a education licence?

my school email which is a 365 business email can't be used to sign up with azure for some reason.

Administrators generally lock down the Azure portal so only administrators are able to sign into it. This is what my university does, so when I try and sign into it using my email address, I get an error saying I am unable to access this resource.

Instead, you would need to use your personal Microsoft account to sign into the portal. However, you still won't be able to sign in due to your account not being a member of a tenant. Instead, when you sign in, you will get an AADSTS160021 along with other AADSTS errors, and the tenant tries signing you onto the "Microsoft Services" tenant.

Instead, if you are wanting to reach out to Azure support, you must sign up for a pay-as-you-go subscription for Azure using your personal Microsoft account here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/purchase-options/azure-account

Once you have signed up and gone through the process, you will be able to sign into the Azure support blade here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade

If you use the free trial option, you may have to wait until the free trial ends before you can sign up for the Azure Students subscription. This is why I recommended using the pay-as-you-go option as this isn't an offer, it is a subscription, so you are able to apply for the Azure Students subscription.

The Azure Students subscription doesn't require you to have a verified GitHub student account. GitHub and Azure are two different platforms that have their own separate student programs.

For GitHub, they have the GitHub Student developer pack: https://education.github.com/pack

Azure have Azure Students subscription for eligible university students: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students

You can be signed up for the Azure Student subscription, but not have signed up for the GitHub Student developer pack. My first two years of uni, I was only signed up for the Azure Student subscription and not GitHub. You can be signed up for both. Some people have signed up for the GitHub student developer pack, but not Azure.

I have tried finding documentation that tells you you must have a GitHub student account to sign up, but couldn't find anything. Was this something presented on the screen or something posted in a community?

Hi Skyline,

Thx for sharing urs issue here at Q&A portal. GitHub Student Developer Pack and Azure for Students are related, but the eligibility check is still done by Microsoft/Azure. Having GitHub student verified doesn’t always mean Azure will auto-approve the credits.

Use the same student/school email wherever possible. If ur personal email is primary in GitHub but Azure expects school verification, that mismatch can trigger not eligible.

Sign out from all Microsoft/GitHub accounts, use InPrivate, then start from the Azure for Students page with ur school email. If the school email is a Microsoft 365 business account and can’t be used, u may need to ask ur school admin if student self-service signup is blocked for that tenant.

If Azure login gives a token error and u can’t open support, try Microsoft general support and mention Azure for Students eligibility / token error during signup.

Don’t keep retrying too many times with diff emails. That can make eligibility checks even more annoying.
