When I open Microsoft teams it has an error "no application policies have been assigned" but our company portal is installed.

Additionally, Microsoft defender as well is installed.

Dear @MAGDARAOG Rico

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially since your device already has Company Portal and Microsoft Defender installed.

According to my research, in Microsoft Teams, access depends on user-level policies (such as app, messaging, or meeting policies). Therefore, to help narrow this down and resolve the issue, I recommend the following:

Step 1: First, please confirm whether the issue also occurs when signing in to Teams on the web.

Step 2: If you have access to your Company Portal app, open it and check that your device shows as Compliant, then perform a manual sync to ensure the latest policies are applied.

Step 3: If your account or device was recently set up or updated, try signing out of Teams, restarting the device, and signing back in, as policy changes can take some time to propagate

If the issue persists, I recommend you contact your IT administrator, as they can verify whether the appropriate Teams policies have been assigned to your account in the Teams Admin Center and ensure they are applied correctly.

Note: If you do not know who your IT Admin is, please refer to How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

  • Go to Teams Admin Center > Under the Users section, select Manage users to view your list > Select User > scroll down and select Policies tab.
  • Click Edit settings and adjust the relevant policy > Verify that App / Messaging / Meeting policies are assigned > Apply and Wait since policy changes may take some time to take effect.

Note: Please understand that as a forum moderator, my role is to provide general guidance and troubleshooting support. I don’t have access to internal systems or backend tools, and I appreciate your understanding of these limits.

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.

The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
