Hi Support,

I’m having an issue with a mailbox I created in Outlook.

What happened:

  • I set up an additional mailbox using my intended email address.
  • Outlook created the mailbox, but the mailbox title/identity is showing as an internal address like ******@outlook.com instead of the actual email address I entered.
  • In the Outlook UI, this internal Outlook-generated address is what appears as the mailbox identity.

What I need help with:

  • I need the mailbox title/identity to display the actual email address I created, not the Outlook-generated internal address.

Impact:

  • This is confusing in the Outlook UI.
  • It affects how the mailbox is identified for calendar workflows.
  • It shows the generated email not the actual email and users cannot respond because they get mailerdaemon.

Thanks.

When you said outlook UI do you mean the outlook.com website?

are you using a third party email address as your Microsoft account alias?

if so this is normal behavior. The outlook website is not an email client app so it cannot send or receive emails on behalf of your third party email address. The email address you use is simply an alias/ username. Actual email sending and receiving is via the third party email service provider.

let me know if I understand your setup correctly.
