I'm unable to login to my new work email because Outlook is trying to log me into my previous work email account.

It's very similar to this case:

However, my IOS is already up to date.

Please help. I'm very frustrated.

    Hi Dave

I’m sorry to hear that you’re running into this issue. I completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially when you are trying to access your new work email and Outlook keeps trying to redirect you back to your previous work account.

As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account or review the backend systems to diagnose and resolve this issue for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance by offering clear next steps, sharing applicable resources, and directing you to the appropriate support channels so you can work with the right team to investigate further.

In some cases, Outlook or the Microsoft authentication flow on iOS may still retain cached information, tokens, or organization-related data from a previous work account.

Since your iOS is already up to date, here are some additional steps you can try to clear any remaining old account or organization data from the device:

1/ Check for any remaining old work account on the iPhone

    • Please go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts
    • Check whether any Exchange, Microsoft 365, or work/school account from your previous organization is still listed. If you see an old work account that you no longer use, please remove it from the device.
    • User's image
    • If only your current account or personal accounts are listed, no action is needed for this step.

    2/ Check Device Management profiles

    • Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management
    • Confirm there are no remaining management profiles from your previous employer.

    3/ Check Microsoft Authenticator

    • Open Microsoft Authenticator
    • Remove any account associated with your previous work organization, if it is still listed.

4/ Check Company Portal, if installed

    • If you have the Company Portal app installed, open it and see whether the device is still associated with the previous organization.
    • If necessary, remove the old organization/account from Company Portal.

5/ Remove and reinstall Microsoft apps in a clean order

    • Uninstall Outlook.
    • If possible, also uninstall Authenticator, Company Portal, Teams, OneDrive, or other Microsoft work apps temporarily.
    • Restart the iPhone.
    • Install Microsoft Authenticator first and sign in with your current work account.
    • Then install Outlook and try adding your current work email account again.

Also, while troubleshooting the mobile app, you may be able to access your email through Outlook on the web using a browser as a workaround.

If the issue still persists after trying the steps above, please reach out to your current organization’s IT support team and ask them to check whether your device or account has any stale registration, Conditional Access, Intune, or App Protection Policy conflicts. This may need to be reviewed from the organization’s Microsoft Entra ID / Intune admin side.

Additionally, if needed, your IT team can also raise a support ticket with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for deeper investigation. They have access to backend configurations and can perform a more in-depth investigation. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
