In Word for Mac desktop, an Office add-in task pane opens and then closes/crashes only when a SharePoint-hosted document contains comments and AutoSave is ON. The same document works in Word Online, works as a downloaded local copy with comments, and works in Word for Mac with the SharePoint file open when AutoSave is OFF.

When AutoSave is OFF, Word is still rendering the SharePoint file and comments, and add-in does not crash. When AutoSave is ON, and Word enters the live coauthoring/sync mode, it appears to be destabilizing/unloading the add-in pane.

    Hi @RahulK

    Thank you for reaching out.

To ensure I fully understand your situation and provide the most effective assistance, I’ll need a few additional details, such as:

Could you please confirm whether this behavior began after updating to Word for Mac version 16.110.1 (26062112), or if it was present in earlier versions as well?

Does this issue occur across all add-ins, or only with a specific add-in?

Is the issue affecting all users in your environment, or only certain users or devices?

Any update would be greatly appreciated.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
