    Good day Jonie,

Thank you for sharing your concern.

Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to internal systems or the ability to directly take action on Microsoft product features. However, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.

According to the error message you received, "The credential is invalid. Unexpected sub status (6008) and Error 657rx", this usually means that your account credentials are not being recognized by Microsoft. This can happen for a number of reasons. I'd like to walk you through a few steps that can help you log in properly. These steps are designed to be easy to follow and tailored to your situation:

    Step 1: Clear Teams cache

Please start by signing out of all Teams apps and completely closing the Teams application. Next, clear the Teams cache by following these steps: Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

Step 2: Disconnect your work or school account

Open Windows Settings > Go to Accounts > Click Access work or school.

Then, disconnect your work account. If the account isn’t listed, choose Connect and add your work account again.

Step 3: Remove any stored Microsoft credentials from the Windows Credential Manager

Outdated or corrupted saved credentials can interfere with Teams login and cause the error tag 657rx issue.

Press Windows + S and search for Credential Manager or open the Control Panel on your PC.

Go to User Accounts > Credential Manager.

Under Windows credentials and Generic credentials, look for any entries related to your Microsoft work account > Click Remove next to each one.

    Reboot your system.

Open Teams and sign in again.

This forces the app to re-authenticate with fresh credentials.

Step 4: Reset activation state for your work account

Download OLicenseCleanup.vbs and launch it. With this package, you can delete the license, delete the identities saved in the registry, and delete the credentials.

You can follow this guide to reset your activation status: Reset activation state for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

    Restart your device.

Open the Teams app again and sign in with your work account.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
