Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.
I understand that New Outlook for Windows is asking you to sign in and then shows the error INTERACTIONREQUIRED. Could you confirm:
- Is the affected account Outlook.com/Hotmail/Live, Gmail/Yahoo/iCloud, or an internet-provider email account?
- Can you sign in successfully through a browser?
- Does the same error appear after Repair and Reset?
Meanwhile, try the steps below:
1) Check whether the account works in a browser
First, try signing in to your Microsoft account in a browser. If you cannot sign in there either, use Microsoft’s Sign-in Helper first: I can't sign in to my Microsoft account | Microsoft Support
If browser sign-in works, continue with the steps below.
2) Fully close New Outlook
Close New Outlook completely by using Task Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Task Manager.
- Select Microsoft Outlook.
- Select End task.
- Reopen New Outlook.
3) Repair New Outlook
Go to: Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options > Repair. After the repair finishes, open New Outlook again and try signing in. See: Repair apps and programs in Windows | Microsoft Support
4) Reset New Outlook if Repair does not work
If Repair does not fix the issue, go back to: Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options > Reset. After resetting, you may need to add the account again.
5) Remove and add the account again
In New Outlook, go to: Settings > Accounts > Your accounts
Then:
- Select the affected account, if it appears.
- Remove it from Outlook.
- Add the account again.
- Follow the sign-in prompts.
6) If this is Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, iCloud, or an internet-provider mailbox
Sign in to that provider’s webmail first to confirm the account and password still work. If the provider requires an app password, create one from the provider’s security page and use it when adding the account to Outlook. Some accounts may need an app password when being added to Outlook.
7) Reinstall New Outlook if the sign-in loop continues
If the same sign-in error continues after Repair, Reset, and re-adding the account, uninstall and reinstall New Outlook.
- Open the Start menu.
- Find Outlook (new).
- Select Uninstall.
- Reinstall New Outlook from the Microsoft Store.
- Add the account again.
