    Hi Jeffrey Ellison,

If an additional unknown tab or window opens every time you create a new tab in Microsoft Edge, it may be related to an extension, browser profile configuration, or software interacting with the browser.

To help isolate the cause, please try these following checks:

    1. Test in an InPrivate window (Ctrl + Shift + N) - if the issue does not occur there, an extension or profile setting is likely involved.
    2. Create a new Edge profile.
      • Go to Settings > Profiles > Add profile
      • Test whether the extra tab appears in the new profile.
    3. Run a Full Scan with Windows Security to identify unwanted software that may be triggering unexpected browser behavior.

If the issue continues, please let us know whether the unexpected tab shows a specific website address or appears blank. That detail can help narrow down the source of the behavior.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Thanks for your effort.

    Hi, good day!

To help narrow down the cause, when was the last time everything was working properly? Also, have you made any recent changes to your computer, such as installing updates, new software, drivers, or hardware?

Let's start with a few things you can try:

Please try to update your Microsoft Edge browser

Open Edge > Click 3 dots > Help and Feedback > About Microsoft Edge

    Disable or Uninstall Edge extensions

Open Edge > Click 3 dots > Extensions

Please check if one of your extensions is causing the issue

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.
