Connection error with Microsoft: error 0x80072ee2 and slowness with Microsoft apps

Hello.

I have recently upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 and I very quickly noticed some problems regarding logging in to my Microsoft Account. When I first started re-downloading my games, I noticed that the Minecraft Official Website was running extremely slowly. At first, I thought it was a problem with my connection, but the same pattern repeated continuously even though my internet remained stable for other websites. After some time (maybe an hour?), I managed to download the Installer, though it still required a connection to the Microsoft Store to work, and the error 0x80072ee2 kept popping up when downloading. After (many) tries and even resetting the PC (with the keep my files option on), I managed to log my Microsoft Account in, but the error still continues. All Microsoft websites also run extremely slowly, and often don't even connect, so I think this is not a Microsoft Store-only problem, but it is related to my connection to Microsoft. I've found people with similar problems such as https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/3935384/error-code-0x80072ee2-when-downloading-apps-how-to, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-ca/answers/questions/5911631/how-can-i-fix-the-0x80072ee2-error, https://learn.microsoft.com/pt-br/answers/questions/5527215/meu-computador-n-o-abre-p-ginas-da-microsot and https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5707528/the-connection-was-lost-during-the-download-0x8007 but, after following all of the suggestions, none of them solved my problem. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you!

    Hi Felipe Terra Milani,

A Windows version upgrade can sometimes lead to system instability or even cause minor component corruption. While this is quite rare, it is still a possibility, so it is understandable if you happen to encounter it.

Please try performing an In-place upgrade to repair Windows.

Disclaimer: Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides: How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

After completing these steps, please also update your BIOS and drivers to the latest versions by downloading them from the manufacturer’s support site. This helps ensure your system stays stable and compatible, which is always a smart follow-up step.

If it’s convenient for you to back up your data, you may also consider performing a clean installation. This can provide a more thorough and reliable solution, giving your system a fresh start and better long-term performance.

Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more. Windows 11 Clean Installation Process
