I'm switching over to Proton authenticator and there isn't an export/import function yet, how do I transfer my authentication details from Microsoft Authenticator to Proton?

Hello Weary! Thank you for reaching out. Microsoft Authenticator does not currently offer a direct export function for transferring TOTP secrets to third-party authenticator apps like Proton. The cloud backup feature only supports restoring within Microsoft Authenticator itself.

To migrate your accounts to Proton Authenticator, you'll need to visit each service individually (e.g., Google, Amazon, etc.), disable 2FA, then re-enable it and scan the new QR code with Proton Authenticator. This is the only supported method since the underlying secret keys are not exposed or exportable from the app for security reasons.
