IKEv2/IPSEC VPN host for Windows 11 desktop

I recently purchased a new cell phone that allows me to use it as a VPN client but it only allows an IKEv2/IPSEC connection. PPTP, the Windows native VPN host protocoal, is not offered. When away from home, I often need to connect to my home desktop to retrieve a file. Is there a software solution for setting up an IKEv2/IPSEC VPN host on my Windows 11 desktop? Can this be done on Windows 11 without additional software or hardware?

Hi Bob Neufeld,

Windows 11 does not natively include an IKEv2/IPsec VPN server for general use.

Windows 11 includes a built-in IKEv2/IPsec VPN client, but unlike Windows Server, it does not include the Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) role that's commonly used to host IKEv2 VPN servers.

You may use third-party applications like SoftEther VPN Server to setup IKEv2/IPsec host on Windows.

Or if you are looking for more advanced option with faster connection, you may use WireGuard protocol. WireGuard provides the same security level to IKEv2/IPsec but is considered faster speed. You can get it by using CloudFlare ZeroTrust.

Additionally, another option is ZeroTier.
