Unable to successfully open Outlook (classic). OS: Win 11 Pro, ver: 25H2, OS build: 26200.8737. Office is a standalone app Ver: 2606 (Build 2013.20090 Click-to-Run) , current channel and is up to date. In the Event Viewer I get WinRE Agent event id:4502. According to the Event Viewer the Windows Recovery Environment Failed - level critical / opcode: info. This needs to be resolved immediately. This is a recent complication after I removed several items from One Drive today (06/30/2026 that had nothing to do with Outlook.

I successfully reconfigured the app with the password provided by Aol.com. App still crashed. Was able to open the app in safe mode and disabled the add-in SpamBully4 for Outlook (Classic) - by following the Outlook troubleshooter. This add-in is useful as it provides a method to recognize and catalog spam email - the average delay for Outlook an est. 0.03 secs. Re-enabled the add-in. Regardless of removing that add-in or not, app still crashes after showing the banner for 2 secs.

    Hi!

The error doesn't provide much relevant information. When you open the app, it simply closes on its own, without any error message?

Does the problem also occur in Word or Excel?

    • Open one of the apps > Click on File > Account > Under Product Information, check if the product is activated or if any activation message appears.

If your Office is correctly activated, try reconnecting your account.

    1. Press Windows + R > type control > Under View By, select Large Icons > Click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
    2. Click on Add Account (Or Show Profiles > Add Profile if there is no profile).
    3. Select Manual setup or additional server types > POP or IMAP > Fill in the requested fields with your account information.
    • You should be able to obtain all this information from your email provider or IT department.
    1. Click on More Settings > Fill in more information in Outgoing Server and Advanced.
    2. Click OK > Next.

Some email providers require an application code instead of a password. If the problem persists, try generating an application code and using it in place of the password.
