I accidently clicked always open in windows in my SAP Netweaver homepage. When I try to open my work, I get a word document opened with the text of the link instead of the site I'm supposed to be navigating to in Edge.

Microsoft Edge | Open the browser | Windows 10

    Welcome Krueger, Richard,

I understand how frustrating it can be when you accidentally selected the option to always open content in Word from your SAP NetWeaver homepage, and now links are opening as Word documents instead of opening in Microsoft Edge.

Before proceeding, could you please clarify:

    • Does this happen only when opening links from the SAP NetWeaver homepage, or do other web links also open in Word?
    • Which version of Windows are you using (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?

In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Check the default browser setting.

    • Open Settings > Apps > Default apps
    • Select Microsoft Edge
    • Ensure Edge is set as the default browser for HTTP, HTTPS, and HTML file types

Option 2: Reset the affected file association.

    • Open Settings > Apps > Default apps
    • Search for .url and .html file types
    • Verify that Microsoft Edge is selected as the default application

Option 3: Try opening the SAP page from a different browser session.

    • Open Microsoft Edge manually
    • Sign in to the SAP portal and check whether links open correctly

Option 4: Clear the browser's protocol preference if prompted again.

    • If SAP displays an "Always open with" prompt, select Microsoft Edge and avoid selecting Word.

    Option 5: Repair Microsoft Edge.

    • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps
    • Locate Microsoft Edge
    • Select Modify and complete the repair process

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
