Confirming business identity to meet advertising transparency and compliance standards
Hello Tiara Udziela,
Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Learn Q&A Platform!
I understand that you’re trying to complete the Advertiser Identity Verification (AIV) requirement and that you currently have DNS TXT ownership confirmation through AWS.
Microsoft Advertising requires Advertiser Identity Verification to help ensure that customers see ads from trusted sources and to improve the overall advertising experience. As part of this process, if you are asked to submit Website documents, the documentation must prove that your business has registered rights to the domain being enrolled.
For this requirement, please upload a website document such as a domain purchase invoice or domain purchase record. The document must:
- List the domain as an exact match to the domain you are enrolling.
- Include your company’s name and address.
- Match the legal business name and address provided in your verification application.
- Be current, meaning any expiration date must be at least two months from today’s date.
While DNS TXT verification can help confirm control of the domain, the Website documents section may still require supporting documentation showing registered rights to the domain, such as a domain purchase invoice or domain purchase record. If your domain was purchased or managed through AWS, you may check your AWS billing, domain registration, or purchase records for a document that includes the required domain and business details.
You’ll have three attempts to complete your identity verification. If your application fails, you may resubmit after reviewing the reason for failure and correcting the submitted information. If you believe the failed decision was incorrect, you may submit an appeal. Please note that once an appeal is submitted, you cannot make a new AIV attempt until the appeal has been reviewed, and you are only allowed to submit an appeal once.
If all three attempts fail, or if you continue to experience issues with your verification results, you may submit an appeal or contact Microsoft Advertising Support for further assistance.
To submit an AIV appeal:
- From the left navigation menu, hover over Settings and select Account verifications. If you have multiple accounts, please choose the correct account from the dropdown menu on the top left.
- If your AIV attempt has failed, you should see a blue popup with an appeal request form link under the Advertiser identity verification (AIV) status section.
- Select the link and complete the form to submit your appeal.
