The message you are seeing appears because the Classic Microsoft Teams app has been retired and is no longer available. To continue using Teams, you’ll need to install the latest version of Microsoft Teams.
Before installing New Teams, please ensure your system meets the required specifications: Teams client system requirements
To begin, please follow the steps below to install Microsoft Teams
- Go to the official Microsoft Teams download page
- Click Download Microsoft Teams
- Open the downloaded file and follow the installation prompts
- Once installed, sign in with your account
If your device already meets the required specifications but you are still experiencing the issue, please kindly try the following steps:
1. Perform a clean installation
- Force close Teams via Task Manager > End task
- Remove Teams credentials: Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > Remove any entries related to Teams
- Uninstall Teams: Control Panel > Uninstall a program > Microsoft Teams > Uninstall
- Delete leftover files: Press Win + R, type %appdata%\Microsoft, delete the Teams folder
- Empty Recycle Bin and restart your PC
- Download the latest installer and run it with “Run as administrator”
2. Install using built-in Administrator account
- Open Command Prompt (Admin)
- Run:
net user administrator /active:yes - Sign out and log in using the newly activated Administrator account
- Try installing Teams again
