    Hello @Aania Khurana

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Teams. Based on your description, it sounds like you're using a school account in Microsoft Teams for Education. In many cases, when chat suddenly becomes unavailable, it is due to a setting or policy configured by your school's IT administrator rather than a problem with your device. Microsoft documentation notes that private chat can be disabled, or students can be assigned restricted or supervised chat permissions that limit who they can message. For reference, you can check this article: Why can't I use chat in Microsoft Teams? (students)

Before contacting your school, you may want to try a few basic checks:

    • Sign out of Teams and sign back in.
    • Try Teams on a different device or in a web browser at Teams on the web.
    • Make sure Teams is updated to the latest version.
    • Check whether you can still post messages in class channels, or if only private chats are affected.

If the message specifically says that chat is disabled, the most likely cause is that your school's IT administrator has disabled private chat or enabled supervised chat settings for students. In that situation, only your school can change the setting.

    Hope this info helpful.
