We want to ensure that if an employee's laptop drops and breaks, all their files on their Desktop and Documents folders are completely safe. How do we configure the OneDrive Known Folder Move (KFM) silent redirect policy in Intune so it sets this up automatically without prompting the user for permission?

    Hi XFACTOR 1990

The way to make sure Desktop and Documents are always safe is by using OneDrive Known Folder Move with Intune. You’ll want to configure the Administrative Template policy for OneDrive that silently redirects those folders without asking the user. In Intune, go to Devices > Configuration profiles > Create profile, choose Windows 10/11 and Administrative Templates, then under OneDrive settings enable “Silently move Windows known folders to OneDrive.” You can also set “Prevent users from redirecting their Windows known folders back to their PC” so they can’t undo it.

Once that policy is applied, every enrolled laptop will automatically sync Desktop and Documents to OneDrive as soon as the user signs in, no prompts required. That way, even if a laptop gets dropped or damaged, all files are already backed up in the cloud and can be restored on a new device. Best practice is to test this on a pilot group first, confirm the sync behavior, and then roll it out to the rest of your fleet.
