Can't redeem microsoft rewards due to inability to add and verify phone number

I'm trying to redeem something via Microsoft Rewards and redeeming requires verifying my phone number. However, when I try to do so, it says that phone verification is not available. I've read up on similar queries, and it seems that adding phone numbers to personal accounts is now not possible. How can I resolve this?
