New Licensing Prerequisite for Agent 365
New licensing prerequisite for Agent 365: Microsoft 365 E5 required for new purchases starting June 1, 2026.
- Date: July 1, 2026
- Workspace: General
- Impacted audience: Partners supporting Agent 365 customer engagements
Details
Effective June 1, Microsoft is introducing an expanded set of license prerequisites for new Microsoft Agent 365 purchases. This update is intended to help customers have the foundational security, identity, compliance, and management capabilities required to support core Agent 365 functionality.
For new Agent 365 purchases beginning June 1, customers must have one of the following prerequisite licenses:
- Microsoft 365 E5/A5/Business Premium
- Microsoft Defender Suite and Microsoft Purview Suite
- Microsoft Defender Suite Edu and Microsoft Purview Suite Edu
- Microsoft Defender and Purview Suite FLW
Customers without these prerequisite licenses may not have access to certain Agent 365 capabilities. This update doesn’t change Microsoft 365 E7 customer engagements, as Microsoft 365 E7 includes Microsoft 365 E5, Agent 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Microsoft Entra Suite.
Partners can use this change as an opportunity to review licensing requirements early in Agent 365 discussions, identify customers who may need prerequisites licenses, and position the appropriate Microsoft security and productivity foundation based on customer needs.

Partner Code of Conduct update
- Date: July 1, 2026
- Workspace: General
- Impacted audience: All Microsoft partners
Microsoft is updating the Partner Code of Conduct (PCoC) to clarify expectations for partner compliance, effective August 1, 2026.
Microsoft is updating the Partner Code of Conduct (PCoC) to clarify expectations for partner compliance, effective August 1, 2026.
What’s new
The following provision is being added to the Governance section of the PCoC:
Microsoft partners may be required to participate in, and successfully complete anti-corruption and remediation programs related to this PCoC or other Microsoft partner programs or offers. Such remediation programs may address partners’ business controls, training, and assistance obligations.
These programs and training courses are separate and additional to any standard compliance training required as part of the PCoC. Microsoft partners will fully cooperate with assigned anti-corruption and remediation programs, which may include, but aren't limited to, Remediation Standard, Remediation Extended, and MCAPS Finance Partner Compliance programs, or successor programs.
What this means for partners
No immediate action is required; this update is for awareness and clarification. As a reminder, partners are expected to:
- Maintain effective compliance controls.
- Cooperate with Microsoft during investigations.
- Participate in assigned anti-corruption and remediation programs when required.
Why this matters
This update clarifies how Microsoft and partners continue to work together to address compliance gaps, and strengthen trust, transparency, and accountability across the partner ecosystem.
Next steps
- Review the updated Partner Code of Conduct terms.
- You may also access the current Partner Code of Conduct until the new terms go into effect on August 1, 2026.
