Other features of Copilot Study Guide

Completed

Beyond the core Study Guide pages, Copilot Notebooks includes additional features to enhance the study experience.

Audio Overview

Licensed users can generate a podcast-style audio summary of study materials. Two AI voices conversationally discuss the key points of the Study Guide for a few minutes. This approach is particularly helpful for auditory learners or study sessions during commutes or exercise. Overviews are customizable based on learner preference. Generated audio files may be saved to a learner's OneDrive in MP3 format.

Chat with Copilot

Ask follow-up questions directly in the notebook. Encourage learners to use the Copilot chat pane to ask for clarification if a Topic page mentions something they don't fully understand. Copilot responds based on the notebook's content, and learners can add explanations to their notes.

A graduate student preparing for comprehensive exams adds research articles and seminar notes to a Copilot Notebook. During their daily commute to campus, they listen to the Audio Overview of key arguments discussed in a conversational format, which helps them identify connections across sources they hadn't noticed while reading. Later, they use the Copilot chat pane to ask clarifying questions about a theorist's methodology mentioned in the audio. Copilot responds with details grounded in the uploaded articles, and the learner adds the explanation to their notes for future reference.

Refresh pages

When new reference materials are added to a notebook, learners can create a new version of the Study Guide pages to incorporate fresh information.

Citations

Every Study Guide page includes citations that link back to the source files. This transparency helps learners verify facts and reinforces good study habits and critical thinking, which is an essential part of responsible AI use.

Notebook Sharing

Copilot Notebooks can be shared with colleagues, bringing everyone into one intelligent workspace where ideas, files, and AI-powered insights come together. To share a notebook, open it, select the Share button in the upper right corner, enter names or email addresses, and select Invite. Note that a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and a SharePoint or OneDrive license are required to create and share notebooks, and sharing isn't currently available for Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium subscribers.

Sharing a notebook also affects access to the files inside it:
