Introduction
Agents extend Microsoft Copilot with focused instructions and knowledge for a specific purpose. Business users can create agents without writing code by using SharePoint or Agent Builder in Microsoft Copilot. They can then use available agents in Microsoft Copilot Chat. These agents help people find, summarize, and reason over information from approved knowledge sources.
This module focuses on agents created with the agent-building experiences in SharePoint and Microsoft Copilot. It also introduces prebuilt agents and advanced agent options so that you can distinguish among them.
By the end of this module, you can:
- Describe the types of agents available for Microsoft Copilot.
- Explain how permissions, licensing, and pay-as-you-go billing affect access to agents.
- Identify ways that agents support knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Describe governance controls that protect organizational data and manage agent availability.
Agents don't replace the permissions and policies that protect Microsoft 365 content. An agent responds based on the knowledge sources configured for it and the content that each user has permission to access.
