Real-time voice or video communication between users on mobile devices or computers
Hi tocguy,
Based on your scenario (microphone working initially, then repeatedly muting during the meeting despite being the organizer/presenter), this behavior is typically not expected and may be influenced by one or more of the following factors:
1. Meeting control or policy behavior
Even in small meetings, certain meeting options or tenant-level policies (such as automatic muting or attendee audio restrictions) can intermittently enforce mute states. Please double-check the meeting options to ensure:
- “Allow mic for attendees” is enabled.
- No automatic “mute on entry” or similar restrictions are being re-applied.
2. Client or device-related issue
Since the issue starts after a few minutes, it may relate to the Teams client or audio device interaction:
- Try switching to a different microphone device (if available).
- Update the Teams client to the latest version.
- Test behavior in Teams web (browser) to isolate whether this is client-specific.
3. OS or driver interference
Some operating systems or audio drivers (especially those with enhancement software) may take control of the microphone:
- Disable audio enhancements in your system sound settings.
- Ensure no third-party apps are managing or overriding the microphone (e.g., conferencing tools, audio managers).
- Confirm that the latest audio drivers are installed, along with any other relevant device driver updates.
4. Network or session stability Intermittent mute behavior can also occur if the client is renegotiating media due to network fluctuations:
- Check if the issue persists on a different network.
- Review Teams call health (via Ctrl + Alt + Shift + 1) during the session for any anomalies. Collected logs can be used by Microsoft Support for deeper analysis.
