I get the error message saying that my new office docs are not supported as my 2019 licence has run out. I only bought it from you yesterday

Are you using Office on a Windows device?

    If so, open Word.

    Go to File - Account.

On that window, is there a 'Switch Licence' button?

If so, click that button and in the resulting list, are you able to switch Office to your new Office 2024 licence?

If you are using Office on an Apple Mac:

Use the steps on this link to remove the previous Office licence from your Mac:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/how-to-remove-office-license-files-on-a-mac

Then log into the Office apps with your Microsoft account used for the new Office 2024 licence.

The documents are opening in read-only mode because Office is still using the old Office 2019 license, which is no longer supported, instead of the new Office 2024 license.

To fix this on a Mac with an older Office license (such as Office 2019 for Mac) when upgrading:

    1. Remove the old Office 2019 license:
    2. Reactivate Office with the new purchase:
      • Open any Office app (for example, Word).
      • When prompted, sign in with the account associated with the new Office 2024 purchase.
    3. Make sure Office is fully updated:
      • In the Office app top menu, select Help > Check for Updates.
      • Turn on Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date.
      • Select Update and install all available updates.

After these steps, the new Office 2024 license should be recognized and documents should be editable again.
