Surface Laptop 7 Snapdragon® X Hissing sound after shutdown

My 6 month old Snapdragon® X Plus (10 Core) is making a hissing sound for a couple of seconds after shutdown. Not necessarily every time. Somewhere I read this is coil whine, but I don’t really know. Should I be concerned about this? The laptop behaves flawlessly. My other, identical surface laptop doesn’t seem to do this.

If it’s coil whine, is that a big deal? My understanding is that Snapdragon laptops have no fan so it’s not that. It is definitely coming from the laptop.

Should I send it to Microsoft for repair? I’m a bit concerned about that because there’s no guarantee apparently, that I’d get a NEW surface. Mine is pretty new and I wouldn’t want a replacement that’s older. I’d appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks

    You're right that it's not fan noise — Snapdragon X devices are fanless, so anything audible is either coil whine or, less commonly, a relay/solenoid click from a power circuit. A soft hiss for a couple of seconds fits the capacitor-discharge/monitoring-circuit explanation well.

    The coil whine varies unit to unit even within the same model due to normal manufacturing tolerances in the inductors/capacitors.

    Don't send it in. It's almost certainly benign coil whine from the power circuitry —not a sign of failure. It's annoying, not dangerous.

    Otherwise, sending it in just risks trading your 6-month-old unit for a refurbished one, with nothing actually fixed in return.
