No "Save" button when updating signature in Outlook for MacOS

When I attempt to update my email signature in the Outlook desktop app on MacOS, the changes do not automatically save. It takes a random number of tries for the changes to my email signature to finally stick. The "save" option is greyed out under the "File" dropdown in the MacOS menu bar and there is no save button anywhere in the UI of the Signature settings window.

It is intensely frustrating and indicative of the increasingly poor design I'm experiencing throughout Microsoft Office products. It's disruptive to my workday to have to re-enter my changes over and over again with no way to consistently save those changes.

Is there some secret save button that I'm not seeing? Can the MS developers add a save button so that I don't need to edit my signature over and over and over again for a random number of iterations hoping for Outlook to finally save my changes?

As an aside, it's deeply obnoxious that I have to way for an LLM to generate tags instead of selecting from a drop-down menu. The insistence on forcing copilot into every interaction with MS software is rapidly making that software less productive and more unpalatable.

Thank you.

    Hi JP ,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, when you make changes to your Outlook signature, the changes are sometimes applied and sometimes not.

For New Outlook for Mac, changes to your signature are automatically saved and do not require you to click the Save button. Therefore, this issue may be related to the synchronization process.

In this case, please follow the steps below and let me know whether the issue still occurs:

    1. Switch to a different Outlook version and then switch back

This can help refresh Outlook's synchronization data.

    • If you are using New Outlook, click Help > Revert to Legacy Outlook.
    1. Create a new Outlook profile

Please try creating a new Outlook profile to check whether the issue still occurs.

To create a new Outlook profile, you can refer to the following article:

Manage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac | Microsoft SupportManage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac | Microsoft Support

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
