Hi A K,
I understand how frustrating this is when Windows asks for a PIN that you don't have and you cannot find a reset option.
Based on your description, if you are using a Microsoft personal account on Windows 11 Home and are already signed in to Windows, but when you go to “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Sign-in options” > “Add a new way to sign in”, Windows asks for a PIN that you do not have.
Before proceeding, please let me know:
- Are you currently signed in to Windows or stuck at the sign-in screen?
- Is the account a Microsoft account or a local account?
- When you enter your password, do you receive any error message, or is it simply not accepted?
In the meantime, if you're signed in to Windows, please try:
- Open “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Sign-in options”.
- Expand “PIN (Windows Hello)”.
- Check whether you see “I forgot my PIN”.
- If it is available, select it and follow the prompts to verify your account and create a new PIN.
According to Microsoft, if the “I forgot my PIN” option is not available, you may need to sign in using your account password first and then reset or create the PIN from “Sign-in options”: Change or reset your PIN in Windows.
