My Windows PC is linked to unknown email addresses that I do not recognize. In Settings, my profile shows <PII removed>@tcberck.com, and when Windows asks me to verify my Microsoft account, it wants to send a code to ...@neonmintmail.live, which is not my email. My actual Microsoft account is different, and I can still sign in to it successfully through the Microsoft website. I also noticed a successful sign-in from India in my account activity that was not me. I have already changed my password and reviewed my security settings. I need help determining why Windows is showing these unknown email addresses and how to reconnect my PC to my correct Microsoft account.

    Hello T Yucel,

Because Windows is showing email addresses you do not recognize, and your Microsoft account activity also shows a successful sign-in from a location you do not recognize, I would treat this as a possible Microsoft account security issue first.

Before reconnecting the PC, please secure the Microsoft account:

    1. Review Recent activity on your Microsoft account.
    2. Change the password again, using a new password not used anywhere else.
    3. Check Security info and remove any email address or phone number you do not recognize, if the option is available.
    4. Run a full malware scan on the PC.
    5. After that, reconnect Windows with your correct Microsoft account.

Windows may be showing those unknown addresses because the PC is currently linked to an account or verification method that is not the one you intended to use. I cannot confirm from the forum side whether that was caused by account compromise, a wrong account being added to Windows, or changed account security info, but the unrecognized successful sign-in makes the security check the first priority.

After the account is secured, you can reconnect the PC by going to Settings > Accounts, remove or disconnect the wrong account if Windows allows it, then sign in again with the correct Microsoft account.

If Windows still asks to verify using an email address you do not own, you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly, because the Q&A forum cannot inspect or change account security information.

The domain tcberck.com doesn't support a secure connection, and the domain neonmintmail.live was blocked by my antimalware app (BitDefender) as suspicious owing to a missing security certificate. In short: Your computer is under attack. You should do this:

1- Disconnect your computer from the internet.

2- When your computer is offline, copy all your personal files (documents, pictures, spreadsheets ... everything) to an portable hard drive or a USB flash drive.

3- Bring your computer to a professional technician, who will try to resolve the malware.

    4- Change all your passwords.
