I am dealing with a really difficult situation on my PC. In my Windows Settings, the administrator account is set to a random email address that isn't mine: <PII removed>@cricsland.com. When I try to switch it to my actual Gmail account (<PII removed>@gmail.com), it fails. It either claims I am signed in without displaying my profile, or it automatically logs me back into the unknown 'Kay' account.

While the PC runs normally when watching videos or playing certain games, my core system features are completely broken. The Xbox app freezes instantly upon opening. Additionally, I cannot update my Minecraft Launcher to play the latest Bedrock version. The Minecraft Launcher tells me that it is incompatible with the newest version of Minecraft Bedrock and gives me a link to get the newest Minecraft Launcher. However, when I follow it to the Microsoft Store, the download gets stuck at 0%. I receive a crash report stating that 'Gaming Services' is not running. When I check Windows Services, GamingServices is stuck in a 'Stopping' state, and attempting to force a restart does nothing. The App Repair option in Settings also fails to load.

Furthermore, I am unable to uninstall large applications. Valorant (which is over 50 GB) still appears under Settings > Apps, but clicking the uninstall button does absolutely nothing to remove the files.

I have a few theories on what caused this:

External Hard Drive Malfunction: I used an external drive that failed. It no longer shows up in Windows, though its physical light still blinks.

Corrupted Drivers/Files: I have been completely unable to update any device drivers recently, or I may have accidentally deleted critical system files.

Security Compromise: I highly suspect my Microsoft/Mojang account has been hacked. When attempting to log in, my email dynamically switches to the cricsland.com address, and sometimes changes to another profile associated with the name '<PII removed>'—suggesting my profile is being used as a stolen 'alt' account.

    Hello israel arredondo,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your personal information in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

It's unfortunate to hear that your account might have been hacked. Just want to check first, can you still log in with the account at account.microsoft.com? It'd be best if you still can.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas. I'll do my best to help you get the account back on your own. However, for more information regarding your account, please contact Microsoft Support.

Regarding the computer issue, it's hard to tell what might be wrong here. However, corrupted files could be a reason, in this case, please try to run this quick check.

    • Type "Command Prompt" in the search bar and select "Run as administrator"
    • Type DISM / Online/ Cleanup-image/ RestoreHealth and press Enter.
    • When it is done, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Restart your computer when the second scan is done.

About the external drive, can you confirm if the port that you used for it is still functional?

    I'm waiting for your reply.
