Hello, I recently purchased the 1st generation of Surface Laptop as a refurbished product and I think this product has quite a lot of heat Even a little bit makes a lot of heat and loud fan noise When I looked it up on Google, I think there are a lot of cases like me Someone said they fixed the bios with undervolting and solved it. Please let me know if this patch can solve it or if there is another way

    Hi Hwanwoong Cho,

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially since you recently purchased the device and it gets hot or noisy even with light use.

Surface devices can become warmer and the fan may spin faster when the device is charging, installing updates, syncing files, running background tasks, or when an app is using high CPU. Please checking the power mode, background CPU usage, and making sure the Surface has the latest Windows, driver, and firmware updates.

A few questions that may help narrow this down:

    • Does the fan become loud even when the device is idle?
    • Does it happen more while charging?
    • Have you already installed all Windows and Surface firmware updates?
    • Did you buy the refurbished device from Microsoft or from a third-party seller?

I would not recommend applying any unofficial BIOS patch or undervolting workaround. Those methods may cause system instability or affect warranty/support options. Please try these steps first:

    • Install all available updates from Settings > Windows Update.
    • Open the Surface app > Help & support and check whether any Surface driver or firmware updates are available.
    • Set the power mode to Recommended from Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode.
    • Open Task Manager, sort by CPU, and check if any app or background process is using unusually high CPU.
    • Use the device on a hard, flat surface with good ventilation, and avoid using it on blankets, pillows, or soft surfaces.
    • Test whether the heat/fan noise happens only while charging, or also when running on battery.

If the device remains very hot or the fan stays loud even when idle after these steps, it may be worth contacting the seller or Surface Support, especially since this is a refurbished unit and there could be a hardware-related issue.

Thank you so much for your understanding.
