Hi D. Jeff Bland
I understand how frustrating this is when Outlook.com no longer responds when you click your profile picture and you're unable to sign out.
To help narrow this down further, could you please confirm:
- Which browser are you using?
- Does left-clicking the profile picture do anything, or is it completely unresponsive?
- Does the same issue occur in an InPrivate/Incognito window?
In the meantime, since the issue appears to be occurring in Outlook on the web, please try these quick checks:
1, Test in an InPrivate/Incognito window
- Open an InPrivate or Incognito window.
- Sign in to Outlook.com and check whether the pinned emails remain visible in your Inbox.
If the issue does not occur in InPrivate mode, the problem is likely related to cached browser data or a browser extension.
2, Clear Outlook.com site data
For example, in Microsoft Edge:
- Open Outlook.com
- Click the padlock icon next to the address bar.
- Select Cookies and site data (or Cookies).
- Remove the stored data for Outlook.com.
- Close the browser completely, then sign in again.
3, Temporarily disable browser extensions
Extensions such as ad blockers, privacy tools, or email-related add-ins can sometimes affect how Outlook.com refreshes message lists.
- Temporarily disable all browser extensions.
- Refresh Outlook.com.
- Check whether the pinned emails remain visible after switching between folders.
Also, try accessing Outlook.com from a different browser (for example, Microsoft Edge if you're currently using Chrome) to determine whether the issue is browser-specific.
