2026-07-01T23:39:07.5866667+00:00 Hi Renee Leuthold,
I understand how frustrating this is, especially when Windows Hello requires your PIN but does not accept it and does not provide any option to reset it.
Based on your description, I cannot yet determine whether you are signing in with a Microsoft account or a local account, as the available recovery options are different.
To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:
- Is the account on the PC a Microsoft account (Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, etc.) or a local account?
- Do you see “Sign-in options” on the sign-in screen?
- If you select “Sign-in options”, what sign-in methods are displayed (PIN, password, fingerprint, face recognition, etc.)?
- Did this issue begin after a recent Windows update or any changes to the device?
In the meantime, if you are using a Microsoft account on Windows 11 Home, please first check the following:
- On the sign-in screen, select “Sign-in options” and see whether a password sign-in method is available.
- If you can sign in with your password, go to “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Sign-in options” > “PIN (Windows Hello)” and select “I forgot my PIN” to create a new PIN.
