Your system still shows my account tied to Godaddy. That was canceled back in December. Yet I STILL cannot and do NOT have full access and control of my account!

How to break Godaddy relation permanently?

    Hi @DX

Regarding your issue, it seems the tenant appears to still be federated through GoDaddy, which means authentication and certain administrative functions are managed by GoDaddy's identity provider. Cancelling the subscription in December stopped the billing, but it does not automatically remove GoDaddy's control or grant full admin access. Microsoft cannot remove the federation or grant full access until the federation itself is changed.

Since GoDaddy controls the federation settings, this process needs to be initiated on their side first.

    Here are the recommended steps:

    • Contact GoDaddy Support and request defederation of the Microsoft 365 tenant.
    • Once GoDaddy completes the process, full control of the tenant can be regained through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • After defederation, authentication can be managed directly with Microsoft, or a separate identity provider can be configured if needed.

Note: It is recommended to back up any important data (such as emails, files, and account settings) before defederation.

    Hi DX,

Even though you canceled your subscription with GoDaddy, your Microsoft 365 tenant remains syndicated (federated) to their system until the backend connection is explicitly broken. This prevents you from gaining full global administrative control over your billing and licenses.

To break the GoDaddy relationship permanently and convert your account into a standard native Microsoft tenant, follow these steps:

Step 1: Gain True Global Admin Access

GoDaddy accounts usually mask full admin capabilities. You need to access the native Microsoft backend:

    1. Go to the official Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

    2. Sign in using your full admin email address. If you don't know your password or it redirects you to GoDaddy, use the Forgot Password option directly on the Microsoft login page to set a native password.

Step 2: Remove GoDaddy's Partner Relationship

    1. Once inside the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, navigate to Settings > Partner relationships (you may need to click Show all on the left menu first).

    2. Look for GoDaddy or Wild West Domains in the list.

    3. Click on the relationship entry and select Remove roles or Remove partner. This strips away their administrative permissions over your tenant.
